|Ronnie Sando, The Rocker
Joe "Ronnie" Sando was born in Hazleton PA. (USA) in 1938. In 1956 "The Rocker" wrote his first song and recorded it in 1958 on the Universal Artists record label. The song "Rocking On The Moon" was the a-side and it was released in 1961 by the record company (UA R-41561). It never was a big chart record but was picked up by a record collector in Yugoslavia because of one word in the song "sputnik" in reference to the first satellite put into space by the former Soviet Union. It then became in demand by the record collectors worldwide, and in 1997 was put on a CD titled "Rocket Ship" by Buffalo Bop / Dee-Jay Records out of Germany and has been selling by some 100 plus distributers since, and is being played on satellite radio.
On january 24th, 2006 Ronnie Sando was inducted into the Rockabilly Hall of Fame in Burns TN. and was awarded a gold record for the song that has been selling 50 years, a half century, by Ken Kittenger awards of Nashville TN. In 1987 under a copyright name RJ Coltin "The Rocker" teamed up with the former Elvis Presley band and the legandary Jordanaires under the direction of DJ Fontana, Elvis' former drummer, and cut 14 songs in Nashville. The Rocker is scheduling more concerts with Elvis' former band. Elmer Fudpucker, who opened some shows for Elvis, quoted that "RJ is the real deal, that boy's got it", watch for Ronnie Sando's high energy concerts, he was there at the birth of rock 'n' roll and is now being recognized as one of the pioneers of rock 'n' roll music.
